Well, we’ve made it. We’re in Boise staying with Nick’s family. We had Thanksgiving dinner with them and we’ll be doing retreats all next week. Jordan is with her family in Burley, ID but will be returning to us tomorrow. Wonderful!!!
The past few weeks have been full of adventures (pictures to come soon… but not yet
). After Penticton we returned to Yakima for a short rest, did an overnight retreat in Pasco, WA, and then left for Vancouver, BC. We definitely have gotten our share of Canada trips, and it seems no matter where we’re traveling it always rains. Well, the Vancouver area brough on the rain in true form, pouring the whole week we were there! We had 5 retreats in 6 days in 5 different Vancouver area towns (North Vancouver, Delta, Burnaby, Abbotsford, Maple Ridge). It was an adventure for sure! And in the midst of all that we got to visit a little town called Fort Langley (we crossed the shortest ferry ride ever) and we celebrated Halloween by dressing up Wizard of Oz style. Melissa was Dorthy, Martha was the Wicked Witch, Jordan was the cowardly Lioness, Shea was the Good Witch Glenda, Jake was the Tinman, and Nick was the Scarecrow (once again, pictures to come). After Vancouver, we again had a couple of days break, where we were kickin it in Yakima before heading to Bellingham/Everett area. Weekend retreat in Bellingham for a great group of high schoolers, and then a week in Everett, where we got to see all the sights. Many, many thanks to Melissa and Jordan’s host dad, who gave us a personal tour of the Boeing Factory. That was Tuesday. Wednesday Melissa and Jordan went to a hockey game while Jake, Nick, Martha and I went to a local young adults bible study. One of the guys there offered to take us on the U.S.S. Lincoln Aircraft Carrier that happened to be parked in the Everett harbor. Thursday we went to Seattle to walk around Pike’s Place Market and visit friends and Seattle Pacific University. And Friday, before the retreat, we got a personal tour of the U.S.S. Lincoln, which was a lot like walking around a small city. It houses 5500 people when out to sea, and we walked up and down all 18 flights of stairs numerous times (there will be pictures of the boat and us upon it….soon). We then did a retreat for Casey Ross’s middle school group at a beautiful camp outside of Cle Elum, WA. And then we were back in Yakima, and now we’re in Boise. (more…)
